Located in Hervey Bay, the Coe Residence is a contemporary home shaped by solar passive design and a strong connection to climate and orientation. Set along an east–west axis, the layout maximises northern light while carefully controlling heat and glare through a refined roof overhang that responds to seasonal sun angles. The planning is centred around open living spaces, with a clear separation between public and private zones, allowing flexibility for a home-based studio and guest accommodation. An internal atrium and large stacking doors enhance cross ventilation and create a seamless connection between indoor and outdoor living. The material palette is simple and honest, combining raw structural elements with warm timber finishes to achieve a modern, functional home grounded in its environment.
