'J-Bunker' is a conceptual design for a rural or wide coastal block with a northerly aspect. It is a single story dwelling constructed with concrete, timber and glass. The pool and alfresco are a central focal point, and can be seen throughout the house. Passive design elements keep the temperature stable in Sunshine Coast's warm temperate climate. Sunlight penetrates into key areas during winter, and openings are strategically placed for cross-flow ventilation during summer. Little disturbance to the natural topography of the landscape, photovoltaic panels, rainwater harvesting, low-maintenance materials, rammed earth construction, low-emissivity glass, and solar access are incorporated into the design brief.
